Cloudflare Setup -- Secure Your Site Description
Cloudflare is a company which provides Internet security services, distributed domain name server services, and a content delivery network, sitting between a site’s visitor and the site’s hosting provider, acting as a reverse proxy for websites. What this means is that when anyone attempts to view your site, they are requesting it from Cloudflare, which not only speeds up the loading of your site (because of their site caching system), but also protects your site from malicious visitors, such as hackers or bots that may attempt to brute force your passwords and add unwanted content to your site.
This setup includes the creation of your Cloudflare account, as well as the setup and migration of your domain name server settings, and the switching of your nameservers to Cloudflare (as required for its functionality).
What’s needed to make this happen?
In order to access your domain’s current settings, and perform the setup on Cloudflare, you will need to have your login information for both your domain’s registrar (i.e. Name.com, GoDaddy, Directnic, Network Solutions, etc) and your current web hosting provider. These may be the same company. If you are unsure, we can help you retrieve this information. You will also be asked to provide a preferred email for the Cloudflare account creation. All information is kept secure and will not be shared. Your Cloudflare account password will be securely generated and sent to you prior to account setup. If you require additional information, do not hesitate to contact us via email.
